Clandestine kisses

Old operating theatre london

Up some a creaky wooden stairs and behind a hidden entrance lies the old operating theatre. Only rediscovered in the 1950s this ancient building (dates back to the 13th century) is littered with instruments and memorabilia from medical procedures that took place in the 19th century. A perfect setting for an exhibition of slightly different sort.

The Kiss hoarder is a collaboration between novelist Lana Citron and illustrator Valerie Lari. Lana’s bittersweet story of a woman in search of love is the perfect match for Valerie’s dark  watercolour paintings. The story, paintings and jars of kisses are dotted about the exhibition space. Mingling with the old medicinal jars and instruments they look quite at home. So for all those who crave something a bit off the beaten track this definetly worth a visit.

The exhibition is on until the 8th December 2008 and Lana Citron will be doing a reading in the coming weeks. Check the myspace page for more info.
